Archaeology & History Section

Section President
Cyril Sampson
Section Secretary
Richard Young

The Archaeology & History Section is biased towards the latter. No Archaeological investigation is currently being undertaken, although visits, are made to local sites where work is in progress.

During the year, we host a series of talks and lectures by both resident and guest speakers on a wide range of subject matters, such as stone circles to Edward Lear, from the Romans to the Incas, and from medieval life to Victorian buildings, although most of the subjects relate to Northamptonshire.

All are welcome to our meetings. Please click here for more details.

Next meeting:

Wed, 10 May 2017, 14:30
7+1 wonders of the waterways
by Colin Ford. Colin will tell us about some very old, and some relatively new, treasured places on our wonderful waterway system. Among them are the very old Bingley Five Rise locks on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, the Anderton Boat Lift in Cheshire, and the Millennium project rotating Falkirk Wheel in Scotland.
