The GENERAL SECTION is one of the two sections that hold afternoon meetings. The second Thursday of each month at 2:30pm is the regular meeting time. As the name implies, no specific subject is followed but a series of talks encompassing as many of the disciplines of the evening sections as possible is arranged. All meetings end with refreshments.
June 14 UNUSUAL GEOLOGICAL FORMATIONS – HERE, THERE and EVERYWHERE An illustrated talk by Dawn Lovitt July 12 COACHES CARRIAGES AND CANALS Ruth Thomas talks about Transport in Northampton’s past. Another of our very popular afternoons of nostalgia. August 9 TREASURE GARDENS DVD presentation of some of the most beautiful gardens in Britain. Commentary by Alan Tichmarsh, well known previous presenter of Gardeners World. September 13th Flowers of the Burren Seán Karley will give an illustrated guide to the Limestone landscape of the Burren and its unique flora. October 11th California and Western U.S.A. A trip to the West Coast of the USA via Las Vegas, Hollywood and the Grand Canyon. Described and illustrated by Patrick Rawlinson in his own entertaining and informative manner.
