5th (Sat) Abington Park and Church Fete is our walk today. Meet at 1.55pm at the church, in time for the opening at 2.00pm.    Tea available.    SATURDAY WALKS

9th (Wed) Open House. The rooms will be open for members and guests to look at the library books, magazines and exhibits. Tea, coffee, soup and light lunches available.           10.30am-2.30pm.

10th (Thu) Galapagos Islands. A video presentation featuring the amazing and unique wildlife found in the seas around the Galapagos Islands.    2.30pm start    GENERAL

12th (Sat) Canal and Park walk in Market Harborough. Bus S.C. X7. 11.20am.*, or meet outside the Police Station, Leicester Road, Market Harborough at 12.05pm.  Picnic Lunch.    SATURDAY WALKS

19th Today we go to St. James End and walk around Sharman Road Lake. Bus FN 30. 1.33pm.*, or meet at Sharman Road at 1.40pm.    SATURDAY WALKS

20th (Sun) Bedford Purlieus is an S.S.S.I. and National Nature Reserve. Map 142, ref TL 039.005, 3.5km west of Wansford off the A47. Limited parking. 22nd (Tue) Stuart England and the Civil War. A period of our history when families were divided by differing loyalties. The issues were not clear cut and both sides had good reasons for their opinions. Tom Aldwinkle will consider some of the aspects of the conflict.    ARCHAEOLOGY & HISTORY

23rd (Wed) Evening Photographic Stroll. An evening stroll around Sixfields lakes and nature reserve near Sixfields football stadium, Duston. Meet at 7.30pm at the public car park at the end of the road that runs alongside the lower Sixfields football car park. 26th (Sat) NNHS World AstroCast 2008. Lecture by Matin Ratcliffe (USA) A series of live web based presentations from all over the world. Presented by our own Astronomy Section. 28th (Mon) Telescopic Topics. Section members can showcase their interests and results. With a chance to discuss observations, events and theories over a cup of tea and biscuits.   ASTRONOMY

29th (Tue) Forensic Science and the Microscope – Reflections of a former forensic science examiner. A lecture by Maureen Yule. Find out what it is really like behind the scenes in a forensic science laboratory and what role the microscope can play in the detection of crime.  There will be the opportunity to look at various crime scene samples under the microscope.   MICROSCOPY
