6th (Tue) Make your own Slides. A lecture by Mike Gibson. Mike will describe and demonstrate how you can make your own microscope slides. Including subject selection, preparation and staining techniques   MICROSCOPY

7th (Wed) Portrait Evening. Led by Vic Seaton. We will put into practice the techniques learnt at Vic’s portrait lighting demonstration on the 23rd April. In order to participate you should have attended Vic’s lighting evening on April 23rd. 8.00pm start   PHOTOGRAPHY

8th (Thu) The Daily Bread Co-operative. The Co-operative was started in 1980 to help handicapped people. A member of the current team will talk about the past and how the business has developed and expanded in the last 27 years.        2.30pm start   GENERAL

10th (Sat) Stoke Bruene is the walk today. Bus M.K. 86. 11.05am.*, or at the Museum at 12.17pm. Picnic.   SATURDAY WALKS

10th (Sat) Name that Plant. Saturday school on Botanical Identification. A painless introduction to the identification of our wild flowers. For the novice and those with some knowledge already.   10.00am to 4.00pm,   BOTANY

11th (Sun) Callendar and Global Warming. Mike Longman will cover the theories of global warming that were described by G.S. Callendar.  2.30pm start   METEOROLOGY

11th (Sun) Stanwick Lakes, Northamptonshire. A look at the botany of the lakes and surrounding habitats. Situated off the A605 near Thrapston, SP 970 713. 12th (Mon) Telescopic Topics. Section members can showcase their interests and results. With a chance to discuss observations, events and theories over a cup of tea and biscuits.   ASTRONOMY

14th (Wed) Open House. The rooms will be open for members and guests to look at the library books, magazines and exhibits. Tea, coffee, soup and light lunches available.           10.30am-2.30pm.

14th (Wed) Cornwall Cup. Natural History competition. Projected image, slide and digital. Final. A chance to see the best images from the three preliminary rounds compete for the trophy.   8.00pm start   PHOTOGRAPHY

17th (Sat) Moulton Village Festival and Meadow Walk. Bus S.C. 39. 1.30pm.*, or meet at the church at 2.00pm. Tea available.   SATURDAY WALKS

27th (Tue) Nefertiti, The Most Beautiful Woman Ever? Popular lecturer Ruth Thomas returns to Ancient Egypt for tonight’s talk where she will look at the evidence, both pictorial and written for the claims of Nefertiti’s great beauty.   ARCHAEOLOGY & HISTORY

28th (Wed) Monopod Competition (ecclesiastical), in honour of Mrs Humfrey. Five pictures, print, slide or digital. Concludes with the presentation of the annual trophies.     8.00pm start   PHOTOGRAPHY

29th (Thu) The Wildlife Garden. Lecture by Vic and Mary Seaton. Vic and Mary will take us through a photographic tour of the amazing and usually unnoticed wildlife that can be found in a garden. Illustrated with their own outstanding photographs.    2.30pm start     ZOOLOGY

31st (Sat) Today we visit Courtenhall by kind invitation of Sir Hereward Wake Bt M.C. See notice in rooms for further details and how to reserve your place. A coach is available, but a seat needs to be booked.   SATURDAY WALKS
