2nd  (Tue) Microscopic Pond Life You are invited to bring your own samples of pond water to look at under the microscope.    MICROSCOPY

4th (Thu) What did you see this Summer? Bring photos to show us all. Seán will help us identify and explain any shown. We will plan the winter program.   BOTANY

6th (Sat)  Kingsthorpe to Welford Road, along part of the Brampton way. Bus FN10. 1.25pm.*, or meet at the Cock Hotel, Kingsthorpe at 1.35pm.   SATURDAY WALKS

10th (Wed) Selenite in the Land of the Spaghetti Western Lecture by Seán Karley. Seán explores this famous and spectacular area, looking at the geology and botany in his entertaining way. 8.00pm   PHOTOGRAPHY

11th (Thu) D51’Deborah Northampton 118 Recovery Company REME move a first World War tank to its final display in Flesquies, France. An illustrated talk by Major Graham Crow.    2.30pm  start   GENERAL

14th (Sun) Weather Workshop We will discuss the weather events and trends of the last month. 2.30pm  METEOROLOGY

17th (Wed) Open House The rooms will be open for members and guests to look at the library books, magazines and exhibits. Tea, coffee, soup and light lunches available.   10.30am-2.30pm

23rd (Tue) Hadrian’s Wall. A wide-ranging video about this structure, visiting the still ongoing excavations at Vindolanda, the museum and forts along the wall.   ARCHAEOLOGY & HISTORY

24th (Wed) Digital Photography, a Guide to Better Pictures First of three practical talks and demonstrations by Paul Hayes and Vic Seaton. Guide to your camera, its workings and controls. Followed by composition, exposure and lighting in landscape and travel photography. 8.00pm   PHOTOGRAPHY

25th (Thu) Rainforest, The Amazing World Within. Naturalist photographer, Glen Threlfo has spent years seeking these rare creatures through the rugged McPherson Ranges of Australia. Video. 2.30pm start   ZOOLGY
